My opinion on the safety of schools. I have heard so many ideas some good some bad. After 5 years in the Army and 14 years as a network administrator, 9 years at Florence-Carlton School. 1st thing would be upgrading schools camera systems inside and outside the schools. 2nd, education of teachers and Staff on what to do in situations when shooting is going on. Rose When I say I love you more blanket. My opinion on arming teachers, no! Teachers love their students. If a student becomes a hostage it can cloud their thoughts and if a gunman holds a gun to their head and says “give me your weapon or the student dies.” Their love for a student may override the training now the shooter has their weapon too!i Training takes a lot of time at the range misses that bullet can travel through many walls on a miss and hit another person several rooms away.

Veterans are trained along with National Guard and police. The should be the ones to carry the weapons. Having a trained set of eyes on the cameras in contact with the trained forces in the school walking throughout the building always changing their times and which way as to not become a learned pattern. 3rd educate the children on reporting what they hear in school an outside of school is one of the best ways of gaining knowledge. 4th Educate parents on tough love. It is hard to report your own child but it can save their lives and everyone at school. 5th All staff need to stand tall and take charge of the students, if they are in trouble follow through and not ignore someone for fear of parents or pressure if they my be a star student or athlete, take all threats seriously. Once student see their is punishment they may think twice. Rose When I say I love you more blanket. 6th bring K9’s onboard. 7th Limit the amount of doors to a minimum locked after school starts once it starts all late students go to a main door a with security. If the advice I just gave you is followed and reviews after each drill to see what needs to be addressed, your school will be a safe environment to be in. God Bless The USA!
