The MoonSwatch watches in the Omega X Swatch collection differ from the traditional mechanical movements and instead utilize quartz movements. They are encased in Swatch’s Bioceramic case, a groundbreaking material reportedly composed of two-thirds ceramic and one-third castor oil, deviating from Omega’s classic stainless steel case.
While not an exact replica of the iconic Speedmaster, certain design elements draw inspiration from the Omega Moonwatch collection. This influence is evident in the subdials, tachymeter scale, and overall contours of the watches.
All the watches proudly display the Omega X Swatch signature at the 12 o’clock position, with the words “Speedmaster” and “MoonSwatch” inscribed between the subdials.
Some watches feature special additions to their dials. For instance, the Mission to Saturn piece from the Omega X Swatch line showcases the rings of Saturn encircling the subdial at the 6 o’clock position. Similarly, the Mission to Mars MoonSwatch incorporates the red rocket hands from Omega Speedmaster Alaska Project watches onto its subdials.
Each watch showcases a depiction of its corresponding planet or celestial body, along with inspiring words, on the battery cover located on the back. Additionally, all the watches are equipped with velcro watch straps, reminiscent of the straps astronauts use to wear their watches over their spacesuits.
